Lola by Marc Jacobs Eau de Parfum- Why You So Nice?!

I must admit... I've never really wanted to try or cared about Lola by Marc Jacobs. Basically anything that creates a lot of hype instantly turns me off... I mean, I don't want to look and smell like every girl who walks down the street, right?! So I've always given this fragrance the cold shoulder and moved on.

That is until I smelt it for the first time at the Maxted Thomas PR Beauty Gala Event for ABBW 2011. Spurred on by the lovely Coty lady (whose name escapes me), I cast my arrogance aside and smelt the roses. And I have to say, it was amazing.

I was honestly expecting something insanely sweet and girly so I was rather surprised by the warmth and depth and femininity in the parfum!

But enough talking, onto the details!

Notes

Top Notes
"Sparkling Fruitness"
Pink Peppercorn, Pear, Ruby Grapefruit

Middle Notes
"Ultra Feminine Florals"
Rose, Fuschia Peony, Geranium

Base Notes
"Warm and Seductive"
Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Creamy Musk

This fragrance is really nice in that the notes progress quite markedly on the skin:- You start with the burst of freshness, followed by the soft, pretty florals then end with the sexy base notes.

The Bottle
We all know Marc Jacobs is a creative genius so how could we expect any less from his fragrance bottles? Lola's bottle is created to reflect the "Floral Bouquet" inspiration by having a flower blooming from it's holding. Colours of Plum, Fuschia and Red play on the femininity of the fragrance. Detailed gold "rope" underneath the flower contrasts against the lilac bottle beautifully.

Day or Night Fragrance?
Personally, I am going to be wearing this fragrance during the day as it is so fresh and pretty, but I'm most certain it can be worn at night!

So, I'd like to really thank you, Coty Lady, for giving me the opportunity to smell this parfum. It most defiantly is becoming a staple in my collection. In the future I think I should stop be such an Olfactory Snob, no?

Buy It From: Myer, David Jones
RRP: $120 for 50ml. Being Christmas time there will be Gift Packs available that include a shower gel and body lotion.

Which perfumes are you loving at the moment? Do you prefer the ultra girly scents or the deep seductive scents? LET ME KNOW!

Exclusive Review- Illamasqua FREAK Eau de Parfum

I've never anticipated a Parfum release as much as Illasmasqua FREAK. I mean, you know how much I love Illasmasqua, so their folly into the land of Parfum has sent me into an olfactory daze.

Now I know you're thinking "Why the snail?" I've done a little bit of research and have found out that a snail symbolises "resurrection" thus fitting perfectly with the "Alter-Ego Night-Makeup" ethos of Illamasqua. It's all about creating another persona!

You'll also notice the bottle is perched on it's side. For me, it gives the impression that the bottle will stand out in a sea of "upright" bottles... The fragrance truly is more those who want to stand out.

This is Illamasqua's official release on the bottle:

"Freak is encased in beautifully ornate art deco inspired bottle, tilted to one side, as though confirming to the dictates of an alternate reality. It's smoked glass dances in the light and features a delicate silver snail and its trail, symbolising an addictive passionate path that is both distinctive and unusually provocative"

I knew from the get go that this fragrance would be different, bold and majorly powerful and I can honestly say that it delivered. Oh it delivered.

Let me be frank, this is no Daisy by Marc Jacobs.

As soon as I smelt it, the first thought that came to my mind was:

Taken from Google Images. I do not support smoking. It's Rita Hayworth btw...

This fragrance SCREAMS Old Hollywood Glamour. It's a fragrance that demands the room, exudes confidence and expects attention.

If you could bottle a powerful and sexy woman, this would be it. As soon as I sprayed this on me, my confidence soared. Such is the power of this fragrance. It's damn sexy.

So what are the notes?

Be prepared... it's like nothing I've seen before:

Top Notes
Black Davana, Opium Flower and Belladonna

Middle Notes
Poison Hemlock, Datura and Queen of the Night Blossom

Base Notes
 Frankincense, Myrrh and Oud

What's damn awesome about this fragrance is the Queen of the Night note... You see Queen of the Night blooms only ONE night every year. JUST ONCE! That's pretty damn awesome in my opinion... and exclusive enough for me to love it.

This is Queen of the Night:
So as you can see, it's most defiantly NOT for the faint hearted. Opium, Queen of the Night, Poison Hemlock OH MY!

When trying the fragrance, give it a little time to settle on the skin before making a decision. Let it react with the skin's chemistry...

Founder and Joint MD of Illamasqua, Julian Kynaston, describes FREAK:

"For me FREAK is all of the dangerous and sexy part of Kubrick's film Eyes Wide Shut captured in a bottle. There is no middle ground with FREAK. The name, the packaging and the fragrance will polarise opinion simply from love to hate"

FREAK is available from October 10th at all Illamasqua counters (in Myer for us Aussies). RRP is $149AUD.

Unleash your inner sex symbol with FREAK.

Current Perfume Obsession

FYI- I'm having a little Chanel obsession at the moment which I'm sure none of you have picked up. I've been trawling all things Chanel on the interwebs and stumbled across the Chanel Coco Mademoiselle campaign staring Keira Knightly.

I fell in love with it immediately.

Watch the vid and you'll see why....

If it's a man's world, then women are the Gods- or at least that's what I think (and I'll stick to it). There's nothing I love more than women out-smarting men, and using their beauty and femininity to do so is even better.

SO! If Keira can do it by solely wearing this perfume, then I can too, no? I MADE THE PURCHASE IMMEDIATELY.

The Verdict!

Oh gosh this perfume is lovely. It wears really nicely on the skin for about 9 hours without needing to reapply. I've had comments at work such as "I knew you'd been here 'cos I could smell you" and "Oh gee that's a nice scent" "Did the Goddess of Amazement just walk through the corridor?!" Disclaimer- Quotes may not actually be word by word accurate.

And Alberto likes it too which is a big plus. He has the same scent receptors in his nose as an Alsation and isn't afraid to loudly exclaim when a scent is off. So far he's said "Hmmm that's alright" which in normal terms is:
"HOLY BATMAN WHAT AN AMAZING SMELL"

The Perfume:

Notes:

Top notes: orange, bergamot, mandarin, Tunisian curaƧao

Middle notes: morning rose, Italian jasmine, ylang-ylang, mimosa

Base notes: Indonesian patchouli, Haitian vetiver, Bourbon vanilla, white musk, opoponax, tonka bean

RRP: $185.00- $220.00
Available: Chanel Boutiuqes, Myer, David Jones

Visit Chanel Online for more information

Which perfumes are you in love with at the moment? I'm looking for one that's a LITTLE bit cheaper for day wear!

Keep it Haute!
