Except for one (more on that later).
First things first, let it be known I did not get into the "business" of beauty blogging to get free stuff. When it comes down to it, I am a buyer... a spender... a hoarder. I like to spend money and do so (a little to often) with reckless abandon. I'm not afraid to splurge on high end cosmetics, but I also get a thrill finding a little drug store gem.
So now that's out of the way, onto the rant.
Lately, I have been incredibly underwhelmed when it comes to PR companies. I have too often been contacted, informed of product, asked for my mailing address and be told that I can expect something in the mail. And nothing arrives. Ever.
Nothing. Zip. Nada. Zero. Zilch.
The first time this happened, I was mildly worried. What if someone else signed for the package? What if it got lost in the mail!? But now the pattern is getting far too prominent. Somethings going on.
I can inform you that in the past 2 months, I have been informed I will be receiving 5 separate packages from 5 separate PR companies, only to realise two months later nothing has turned up.
"Communicate with them!" I hear you say! WELL I DO!
I've told this one company time and time again that I have not received anything. Each time I contact the agency, a different person replies. I can never get continuity of contact. They ask the same questions, and it all just starts again... it's too difficult.
So, fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you. I've had enough.
If you don't/can't/won't send product, just don't email or ask. If your client doesn't like my blog, find out before contacting me. If you agreed to send something, but then can't, then let me know. After all, it's all about "communication" right?
So this is why I'm giving up PR companies. I'm sick of empty promises, waiting for the mailman... it's like they "get off" on a blogger's anticipation.
It's upsetting actually... if you're representing a brand and you can't even send a sample, then what hope have they got?
That all being said, I am very impressed with Heritage Brands. They have gone above and beyond to send a plethora of bloggers "surprise" Love Australis packages. This is absolutely fantastic in my opinion and I can't praise them enough. Heritage Brands, good on you! TEN OUT OF TEN!
Has this ever happened to you? Or am I over-reacting?
Let me know!
Keep it Haute
