FOTD- Super Sweet "1950's" Modern Work Look!

Feeling particularly "Mad Men" on this day, I decided to put on my pearls and create a somewhat modern "1950's" look!

Basically, it's very feminine, fresh and accentuates the natural features of my face.

Face
Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation #8
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
Chanel Vitalumiere Powder Foundation #20

Cheeks
Benefit Sugarbomb Blush

Eyes
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre Emerveille all over lid
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre Ebloui in crease and lower lash line
Designer Brand white eyeliner on lower water line
Napoleon Perdis China Doll liner
Manicare "Glam Eyes" Demi Lashes

Lips
Chanel Glossimer
All the shades look the same on the lips so really I don't need to tell you which one. Btw, now that we are talking Glossimers, you really need to only ever invest in one, because seriously they LOOK ALL THE SAME!!

CLOSE UP!

I've been wearing this look to death lately. I think it's really flattering and appropriate for work without being too over the top. It's also really quick to apply in the morning and the Illusion d'Ombres last all day without creasing.

Hope you enjoyed!

My New Chanel Storage thanks to Pinklily!

I've been in need of decent storage options for my makeup, so I asked the ever knowing Twitter for advice (btw- my Twitter handle is @Haute_Style). @Jaztee informed me of this awesome "glamorous storage" site called "Pinklily".

Needless to say, Jaztee had me at "glamorous", so I HAD to check it out!

I ended up buying THIS makeup storage tray for a whole $49, and I love it to pieces! I decided to store my beloved Chanel makeup in it :)

The Details:

  • Stores 12 lipsticks
  • 8 storage compartments
  • Even has a little drawer!

For my first post of the year I'd like to change things up a bit and do a "Fancy Dress" look!

Chanel Rouge Allure "Enivree"

Straight off the bat, this is the BEST pink matte lipstick I have EVER encounted IN MY LIFE.

If given the chance, I would gush forever and a day about this lipstick, but I shall get straight to the point.

Enivree is a new Rouge Allure lipstick from Chanel's 2011 Holiday collection (there's a total of two new Rouge Allures in the collection- the other is a blue based red called "Famous").

Enivree is described as a "pink warmed with golden shimmer". The shimmer is not overpowering, rather elegant and understated making it perfect for both day and night wear.

Many thanks to My Beauty Blackbook for this image. Check out her post about Enivree here.

I know what you're thinking- "A matte lipstick with gold shimmer"? I was thinking the same thing... If anyone can enlighten me on this please do!

The formula is best worn on nicely hydrated lips, so as to not enhance any dry spots/cracks. The lipstick stains the lips slightly, so when Enivree starts to wear off (around 4 hours for me), your lips still hold the gorgeous pinky colour.

The lipstick is really nicely pigmented- not too little and not too much. Peter Phillips (Chanel makeup director) manages to tick ALL the boxes with this lipstick (for me anyways)

Easy to apply? CHECK
Long lasting finish? CHECK
Goes with anything? CHECK
Gorgeous packaging? CHECK

RRP: $50
Buy It From: Enivree is available from Myer, David Jones, Strawberrynet and the Chanel store.

Have any of you tried Enviree? Do you want to? Let me know!

EOTD- MAC "Woodwinked"

For this EOTD, I used MAC's "Woodwinked" as my inspiration to create a nice, shimmery, warm golden brown eye:

Products Used:
MAC Woodwinked all over lid
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre in "Ebloui" as contour
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre in "Emerveille" on brow bone
Napoleon Perdis China Doll Gel Liner
Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara

I didn't line my bottom waterline either, to make the look more "day appropriate".

I then paired it with this pinky coral Rouge Coco Shine called "Evasion":

Do any of you have "Woodwinked"? Do you love it to death as much as I do!?

Keep it Haute!

LOTD- For the Coral Lovers

NOT THIS TYPE OF CORAL

But this type of coral:

Being the first day of Summer, I wanted to get my Summer vibes on. Working as a Dental Nurse (read: surgical mask), my lipstick/gloss tends to rub off at a moments notice, so I have to invest in long-lasting lippes and liners.

For this look I used my YSL Rouge Volupte in Peach Passion and Chanel Lip Liner in "Coraline". Both used together ensure longer staying powah!

How are you guys wearing your lips for Summer?

Keep it Haute!

FOTD- Subtle Pink Chocolate

After quietly observing a couple of bloggers rave about Australis Gloss Sticks, I decided to jump on the wagon and purchase one myself. I purchased the blueish-pink shade called "Fairy Floss" (centre)

They're rather curious things... kind of like a Clinque Chubby Stick but less chubby. They are also at a relatively lower price point ($12.95 AUD) then Clinque and are available at Target, Kmart, Big W, Myer and David Jones to name a few.

Feeling rather brave, I decided to wear Fairy Floss with the red/brown Chanel Illusion d'Ombre called "Ebloui"

Mucho Gracias Temptalia for this image

Just thought I'd share an AWESOME bargain I found the other day...

It's a cropped navy stripped top with gold detail from Alice McCall and it was only $20!! Btw- that's a belt I'm wearing as a bracelet.

Have any of you tried the Australis Gloss Sticks or Clinique Chubby Sticks? What are your thoughts?

Have a wonderful day!

FOTD- Simple and Chic

I stumbled across this tutorial by makeup guru Lisa Eldridge and got inspired to NOT wear eyeliner on my bottom lids. Big shock, I know, as I'm forever wandering around with eyeliner in my hand!

I've also pulled back on the foundation and blush- with this look "less is more"!

Here's the tutorial:

And here's my version...

On the eyes:
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre "Fantasme" all over the lid
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre "Illusoire" in the socket
Napoleon Perdis China Doll Eyeliner
Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara

On the lips:
Rouge Coco Shine "Evasion"
Currently LOVING this lip colour! OMG SO GOOD!

As they say, "Change is as good as a holiday!"

Do any of you get a little obsessed with a particular beauty product? Lip liner obsessed? Mascara hoarder? LET ME KNOW!

EOTD Chanel Illusion d'Ombre 'Epatant"

This Illusion d'Ombre from Chanel is a goldish, greenish shade with just the right amount of elegant shimmer to keep your look chic and sophisticated.

Epatant

This colour is perfect on it's own (for day time) as it has so much going on. For night time, I'd wear it with Illusoire in the outer corner and crease to create drama and depth.

As with all of the d'Ombres, the apply perfectly and blend seamlessly to create an expensive, "I've just had my makeup done by a Makeup Artist" look. Who doesn't want that, right?

The thing I love about the Illusion d'Ombre range is that every colour I have seen goes with absolutely every skin tone imaginable! How does Peter Phillips do it!? He truly is a genius.

Epatant

Buy It From: All major department stores
RRP: $48 AUD

Have any of you tried the Illusion d'Ombres? How awesome are cream shadows?! ZOMG in love!

Keep it Haute,

My Skincare Saviours

I've been greatly influenced by the Beauty Blogging community to start really looking after and nourishing my skin. After all, Da Vinci didn't paint Mona Lisa on a piece of granite, did he?

So I've been on the hunt for some great skin care products, and after much trial and error, I have come up with my list of personal Skincare Saviours. These are the products that have worked on my skin type and may not work for everyone.

My Skincare Concers:
  • Dry
  • Pigmentation
  • Hormonal Breakouts on chin
  • Dull appearance

L-R: Estee Lauder Idealist Cooling Eye Illuminator, Alpha H Prep and Prime, Liquid Gold and Radiance, DMK Acu Masque, Alpha H Gentle Daily Exfoliant, Alpha H Blemish Control Gel, Chanel Hydramax Lip Care, Invisible Zinc ESP, Chanel Lotion Confort, Comvita Purifying Cleansing Gel, Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear, Alpha H Liquid Gold Smoothing and Perfecting Mask, Chanel Hydramax Active Moisture Creme

Cleanse, Tone and Moisturise

Cleanse

Gently removes dirt and makeup. Manuka Honey has phenomenal anti-bacterial properties (read: less breakouts) and is used to treat skin wounds and infections in hospitals.

Haute Tip: Remove makeup with a cleansing wipe THEN use this product.

Gently sloughs away the strains of the day and rejuvenates tired skin. Comes in powder form that turns into a paste when mixed with water.

Haute Tip: Strapped for time? Mix this in with your cleanser for a quick pick me up!

Tone

Wipe away any dirt of makeup that may have been left behind with this gorgeous hydrating, antipollution toner. It contains absolutely no alcohol, so it won't dry out your skin.

Haute Tip: Talk to a Chanel Consultant to find out which toner is best for you. This one works great for very dry skin

Moisturise

SPF 30+ UVA - UVB protection, no chemical filters, what's not to love? This moisteriser doesn't leave a film or sticky residue after it's applied and moistures the skin nicely.

This moisturiser is my saving grace when it comes to hydrating my dry skin. It's quite a thick cream, but sinks into the skin quickly and notably plumps the skin. Totally worth the price.

Haute Tip: If you can/want to, use a serum under your moisturiser. A serum works on the lower layers of the dermis, whereas a moisturiser works on the upper layers. This way, you'll be hydrated from all sides!

Control Blemishes

Exfoliates and tones blemish prone skin with the use of tea tree oil and clays. Blemishes fade within one day when using this product.

Haute Tip: DO NOT apply this to the whole face, use it only as a spot treatment. It's very drying and has an overwhelming smell of tea tree oil which can irritate eyes. Wear it on the spot overnight for intense pimple fighting power.

This product harnesses nature's ultimate anti-bacterial extracts to fight stubborn break outs (tea tree oil and oregano to name a couple). It's light, cooling and soaks into the skin quickly, making it perfect for day use.

Haute Tip: Wear underneath your moisturiser so the active ingredients can really penetrate the skin. I use this as a spot treatment only.

Resurface

A once a week mask that really exfoliates the skin and radiates the complexion. This product really perks up my tired, stressed, polluted skin and makes it glow again. Great for reducing pigmentation as well

Haute Tip: Watch out if you have any cuts on your fingers/face. This product is acidic and will burn like crazy if it comes into contact with an open wound.

This is part of the Alpha H Liquid Gold Skin Perfecting System. This formulation really works on correctly imperfections of the lower layers of the dermis, resulting in youthful, glowing skin. Also works on maintaining water in the skin cells to help with hydration.

Haute Tip: This product works best when worn on it's own at night time. If you can, try to forgo moisturiser when using this product.

Get Your Glow On

Gorgeous Lips: Chanel Hydramax Active Nutrition Lip Care
Works on maintaining hydration within the lips. I have a tendency to getting cracked lips, so this has been my saviour! The texture is dense so it won't slide off at the slightest touch.

Haute Tip: Have some Q-Tips nearby to apply this from the pot to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

Glowing Skin: Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear*
Moisturise whilst enhancing your complexion and protecting it from the sun with this little beauty. After all of your hard work resurfacing and hydrating your skin, you really don't want the sun coming around and ruining it all!

Haute Tip: Check out the Invisible Zinc site to see which tone of moisturiser works best for you.

Estee Lauder Idealist Cooling Eye Illuminator*
Reduce puffiness and illuminate your eyes with this incredible product. The ceramic applicator acts to reduce inflammation around the eye area and the "massaging" effect used when applying the product reduces dark circles. The light reflecting pigments in the formula further enhances brightness.

Haute Tip: Keep in the fridge for extra cooling, anti-inflammatory properties!

So there it is! My personal Skincare Saviours!

What are your Skincare Saviours? What could you not possibly live without? Let me know in the comments!

Keep it Haute!
