So on Friday, Alberto asked me to pack my bag as we were going away for the weekend to "somewhere tropical".... I had no idea where I was going or what we were doing, so I was really excited.
Instead of driving to the Gold Coast (our usual holiday destination), we made our way to the airport! We were going to go to Cairns, for sure! When we were checking in, I sneakily saw we were on our way to HAMILTON ISLAND! OMG! The Whitsundays! I was basically beside myself, I had always wanted to go there!
We arrived on the Island and made our way to the hotel via BOAT and settled in for the night in the spa ON THE BALCONY OVER LOOKING THE WATER! I helped myself to a glass of sparkling water, Alberto to champagne (much to my annoyance).
Alberto then said "Don't worry about tomorrow as I have planned everything! Just wear something you don't mind swimming in..."
Ok...
Turns out we were going on a seaplane to look at the Great Barrier Reef! EEEEEEEEE!!!! A SEA PLANE OVER THE FREAKING GREAT BARRIER REEF! OMG!!!!! I'm obsessed with the ocean so I was absolutely beside myself when I found this out!
When we got there, it was pretty busy and I was hoping I could get a window seat on the plane. When it was time to board, the pilot asked us to come on aboard, just me and Alberto. Turns out, Alberto had organised a PRIVATE CHARTER for us to look at the reef. I was still a little confused as to why I would be getting wet considering we were flying, but whatevs.

This is Mark our pilot
And off we go!
This beautiful piece of reef is called "Heart Reef"
After a good 45 min flight, Mark then told us we would be landing on the water (!!!!) and going on a boat to get ready for snorkeling on the reef! WHAAAAAT!? Snorkeling in the middle of the ocean by ourselves, no one else for miles and miles around! It was just mind blowing to think of. Even now, I'm just blown away. I mean, we were literally almost 200km off the island in the middle of the ocean!
The boat had a glass bottom- this was the colour of the water. No joke!
Me and Alberto on the boat!
So as I was going crazy at the fish swimming by and seeing all the coral, Alberto said "Babe" and I turned around to see him on his knee with a stunning ring in his hand! Before he could even speak, i said "YES!!!!" lol. He then made a gorgeous speech and asked me to marry him! Here's the ring:
It's a stunning natural sapphire surrounded by 14 beautiful diamonds. I love it so much! I always wanted something a little bit 'different' and this is perfect!
Basically, the next 50 photos on my camera are of the ring!!
We then went snorkeling around the reef and saw HEAPS of fishies and coral (no sharks). It's so surreal snorkeling in the middle of the ocean, by yourself with not another sole around for miles and miles. I recommend everyone does it at least once in their lifetime!
So that's the story of my engagement! I'm so happy and blessed to be with such a wonderful, caring man. I couldn't be happier and I thank God every day for what I've been given.
Keep it Haute!
