Haute Hairspiration for AW12

On Tuesday night, Bossy Hair at Kelvin Grove hosted a "DIY Night", showcasing all the hottest trends for hair for AW12 that can be done in 5 minutes at home.

I mean, who wants to spend 30 minutes doing their hair for work everyday? NOT ME!

The big trend for hair this season is "organic, unstructured, sexy bed hair. The messier, the better." Gone are the days of perfectly groomed plaits and ponies, now everything is deconstructed and distressed, SAY YES TO MESS!

Being ever so slightly novice at hair, I couldn't ask for anything better!

Now on to  the 'dos!

This first 'do is what Sarah describes as "Corporate Chic"

Modelled by Yolly

Step 1: Roughly curl hair
Step 2: Put hair in low pony, leaving a 15 cm section from one side loose
Step 3: Pin loose section in a rough French Roll
Step 4: Wrap excess hair from French Roll around elastic
And you're done! This literally took 2 minutes!

Want to take it that step further?
Literally tie multiple knots in the pony tail, pull out random bits to make it look distressed and pin to the side of the head.

"Deconstructed Waterfall Braids"
Modelled by Sarah
Step 1: Using a GHD, texturize the hair with waves (use heaps of hairspray to get even more texture)
Step 2: Watch this video on how to get this hairstyle as this lass explains it better than me! Skip to 2.05 to start the tutorial.

How awesome is Sarah's balayage?!

Gorgeous

"High on a Hill Heidi Braids"
Modelled by Katy

Basically, this is two waterfall braids joined together at the nape of the neck and pinned in.

This style looks incredible on highlighted hair- look at Katy's colour just exploding out of those braids!

"Fairy Floss Chignon"
Modelled by Dana

Step 1: Place hair in a super duper high pony
Step 2: Add a texturizing powder to the pony tail and TEASE TEASE TEASE!
Step 3: Scoop hair around in a bun and fasten with bobby pins

I LOVE this look. Love love love!

"Modern Day Finger Curls"
Modelled by Tegan

This look was a little bit more time consuming than the others.

Step 1: Tight curl one side of hair
Step 2: Brush out and place hair in clips as above
Step 3: Hairspray like no tomorrow
Step 4: Gather rest of hair and place in messy bun. Use a texturizing powder if need be

This style was perfect for Tegan- olden day glamour for 2012!

"The Heidi Klum"
Modelled by Bridgette
Step 1: Use hot rollers all over hair
Step 2: Wait until rollers are cool, take them out and mess up the curls with a texturizing powder

"The Rockabilly"
Modelled by Abby
Step 1: Add heaps of texture to hair with back combing and a texturizing powder
Step 2: Quiff the front and mess it up!

"Pastel Colour"

This involved applying an apricot colour to the ends of my hair. It's super subtle!

Other colours that are haute right now are pink, purple, teal and grey!

I hope this fills you with heaps of inspiration (it did for me!) and helps you look haute for the season.

A BIG thanks to Bossy Hair as well. I'm blown away by how fashion forward this brand is- they know what's hot and they will go above and beyond to help you to get it. Check out their website here for all their details!

Keep it Haute!

  2. Love the hairstyles - even though they're "quick and easy" I still don't know if I could pull them off! I'm not a hair person...it has got to be simple simple for me :).
