Which Skin Tone Am I?

Colour- in my opinion it's the main element that makes or breaks an outfit. You could be wearing a fantastically cut dress and still look washed out and sick. Why? Because of the COLOUR, ladies! Colour is EVERYTHING! How do you choose your colour? By determining your skin tone of course!

Choosing your skin tone can be an incredibly confusing subject. I mean, what an earth is a Peaches and Cream complexion!? Isn't it a tasty dessert treat? What colour clothing best suits my skin tone? What colours will make me look washed out?? *confusion overload*

SO! I've done a bit of research to try and help you all on our beauty and fashion journey.

Skin Tone- Warm or Cool?:

There are two different tones of skin- Cool tones or Warm. To determine whether you are a cool tone or warm tone, expose your inner wrist to direct sunlight, if your veins are blue, you're a cool tone, if the veins are greenish and you're a warm tone!

EASY!

Choosing Your Skin Tone:

Regardless of your skin colour, you can be either a warm OR cool tone- darker skin doesn't necessarily isn't always a warm tone and vice versa. This table can help you choose which tone you are:

Still haven't found what you're looking for? Here's ANOTHER table:

Now that you've found your skin tone, it's time to enhance your beautiful features! Usually cool tones suit cool colours and warm tones, warm colours. Use this table to help you choose which colours will make you stand out!

How To Get The Perfect Brows Tutorial

LET'S DO IT!

Step 1: Get a professional shape and tint- I went to Benefit Brow Bar in the Myer Centre, Brisbane City.

Step 2: Choose your Weapon of Choice- pencil/gel/brow set/powder, whatever you want! I'm currently in love with Benefit Brows A Go Go

Step 3: Recreate at home using these handy hints!

  • Defining Your Brow- The Three Lines:

Your therapist would have shaped your brows using The Three Lines- these tips are to be used for at home maintenance (I get a very attractive uni-brow between salon visits and this is a God send).

Line 1- Put your index finger on the outside of your nostril and up to the inner part of the brow. This is where your brow should begin!

Line 2- Looking straight ahead, draw the imaginary line from the nostril, passing on the edge of the pupil. This is where the arch should be! NOTE If this is too difficult, the arch is directly above the outer edge of the iris.

Line 3- Trace a line from the nostril to the outer corner of the eye. This is where the brow should end!

Remember!
  • Your brows should be at least as thick as a standard pencil- any thinner and you need to go to brow rehab- let those babies grow back!
  • Brows which are too thin will instantly age you ten years.
  • Never ever EVER lighten brows at home- the chemicals could make you go BLIIIIIND!
  • Always use a highlighter under the brow bone to enhance your arch
Using Your Weapon Of Choice (WoC):

For this tutorial, my WoC is Benefit Brows-A-Go-Go! A fantastic product that has a deep brown cream and powder, a light brown powder, a highlighting cream and powder, a black eyeliner and an angled brush.

Now it's time to enhance! My brow ritual takes about 2 minutes!

Mix all brown shades together on an angled brush and fill in brow. The brown cream will "set" the brows while the light and dark powders fill the brow. Using the two powder shades ensures you don't look like you have two caterpillars on your face! Use light feathery strokes, as if you are drawing little hairs in between the gaps. The shape should be thickest at the inner part and should gently thin to the outer corner.

Mix the cream and powder highlighters together to create a paste and enhance that arch!

YOU'RE ALL DONE! Time to smile!

Easy peasy lemon squeezy! I hope this tutorial was helpful for everyone! Let me know in the comments what you think.
